Practice Summary

Vanessa Lancaster received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, Riverside, her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Arizona State University, and her J.D. from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University.

After graduate school, she worked as a postdoctoral research scientist at the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University.  During this time, Dr. Lancaster developed improved smallpox vaccines and taught university classes related to infectious disease.  In law school, she was Associate Editor of Jurimetrics: The Journal of Law, Science, and Technology and earned a certificate in Law, Science and Technology with an emphasis in Intellectual Property.  Her legal experience includes intellectual property counseling, assistance with patent preparation and prosecution, patent litigation, trademark prosecution, and intellectual property licensing and related contracts.

The following areas are representative of Dr. Lancaster’s relevant technological expertise: chemistry of organic systems, thermotolerant systems, nanomaterials, surface chemistry, spectroscopy, medical devices, and imaging systems.

Dr. Lancaster’s intellectual property experience in the defense industry is limited to the preparation and prosecution of multiple Raytheon patent applications.  Dr. Lancaster is also preparing to take the Patent Bar exam.
